As the cost of food soars, you may find yourself reluctant to pick up pricey organics. Instead of ruling them out completely, you might want consider only buying organic where it matters most.
Some foods accumulate pesticides and chemicals more than others. So skip the canned organic beans and instead focus on these (Prevention 2006):
*beef, pork and poultry
*milk, cheese and butter
*strawberries
*apples
*tomatoes
*potatoes
*spinach
*tomatoes
*coffee
*peaches and nectarines
*grapes
*celery
*bell peppers
You might even be surprised by the prices. I picked up a pint of the most delicious strawberries ever at Whole Foods Market for the same price as non-organic.
